It is the organic certification through a certification body like Ecocert which enables to display the" organic textile" mention in association with the GOTS logo.The marketed products are thus inspected as compliant to the GOTS standard, ensuring a guarantee all through the supply chain until the consumers. There are two certification levels.
Level 1: Organic textiles
95% minimum of fibres coming from organic agriculture
5% maximum of synthetic or artificial fibres
Level 2: textiles containing X% organic fibres
70% minimum of fibres coming from organic agriculture
10% maximum of synthetic or artificial fibres, this threshold to 25% for footwear, long underwear and sportswear
30% from non organic fibres if the raw materials are neither organic, nor recycled or from a sustainable forest management
For products composed of fibers, wool, fabrics, clothes and upholstery fabrics except leather products
Producers of raw materials, processors and textiles manufacturers, distributors, importers, brands or any player of the textile sector
