What is the purpose of GOTS ?
GOTS certification allows your organic textiles to be commercialized worldwide.

- environmentally friendly production and processing processes
- respect and improvement of working conditions
- promotion of the use of fibres from organic agriculture
- prohibition of hazardous inputs such as toxic heavy metals, aromatic solvents etc.
How to get the GOTS label on your products?
It is the organic certification through a certification body like Ecocert which enables to display the" organic textile" mention in association with the GOTS logo.The marketed products are thus inspected as compliant to the GOTS standard, ensuring a guarantee all through the supply chain until the consumers. There are two certification levels.
Level 1: Organic textiles
- 95% minimum of fibres coming from organic agriculture
- 5% maximum of synthetic or artificial fibres
Level 2: textiles containing X% organic fibres
- 70% minimum of fibres coming from organic agriculture
- Less than 30% non-organic fibers (details of authorized fibers are available on the GOTS website)
For which category of products?
GOTS applies to products composed of fibers, wool, fabrics, clothes and upholstery fabrics except leather products.
Who can apply to get GOTS label?
Producers of raw materials, processors and textiles manufacturers, distributors, importers, brands or any player of the textile sector can apply for this organic and ecological textiles label.

Zoom GOTS Inputs
GOTS Inputs is the official tool of the GOTS standard. It helps identify the chemical products and auxiliaries that are permitted in GOTS-certified processes, in order to secure your purchasing, reduce the risk of non-compliance, and save time during internal approvals and audits. It is also a way to harmonize input choices across multiple sites and among subcontractors.
Who is concerned? GOTS-certified operators, or those in the process of becoming certified, must ensure they use GOTS-approved inputs.
Ecocert’s service offering is mainly intended for manufacturers, formulators, and traders of chemical inputs used in textile production, to assess their products’ compliance with the GOTS requirements. The evaluation includes a document review (composition, safety, restrictions, required elements) and, for manufacturers and formulators, an on-site audit. At the end of the service, Ecocert issues a GOTS LOA (Letter of Approval), facilitating access to the market of GOTS operators and strengthening end users’ confidence.
