Commit through a carbon transition plan

Acting for a sustainable world also means committing within our organization. Since 2013, Ecocert has been measuring its carbon footprint across all its subsidiaries and implementing actions to reduce its impact and regenerate its environment. As part of a continuous improvement approach, we have developed a step-by-step plan to fight climate change, taking into account all ecological issues (biodiversity, water, air, soil, etc.).

measure

We voluntarily carry out our carbon footprint assessment every two years. We take into account all direct and indirect emissions from our 36 subsidiaries. This allows us to have a comprehensive and up-to-date overview, as well as to identify relevant areas for reduction.

Reduce

To achieve this, we activate two levers:

Concrete reduction actions within the Group and each subsidiary (mobility policy, awareness campaigns, etc.) Our ability to engage our value chain by offering services that help our clients act on their own greenhouse gas emissions.

offset

We strive to reduce our emissions — but that’s not all! Since 2013, we have supported societal projects each year by purchasing as many carbon credits as the emissions we have not yet been able to avoid. Beyond their climate benefits, these projects also generate positive economic, social, and environmental co-benefits.

Discover our sustainable buildings

Ecocert’s headquarters is located in L’Isle-Jourdain, in the Gers department in the southwest of France. It consists of several eco-friendly buildings, all designed or renovated to minimize their impact on our ecosystem. They use sustainable materials, promote energy efficiency and sobriety, and integrate systems to preserve natural resources — all while offering a pleasant living environment! For all our sites in France, we have chosen Enercoop as our electricity provider, ensuring 100% renewable energy.

Protect biodiversity

Biodiversity is at the heart of Ecocert’s commitments. Our services protect and enhance biodiversity for our clients. But we go further by promoting its resilience in our own territory.

Biodiversity on our sites

What is biodiversity?

Biodiversity refers to the variety and diversity of life forms on Earth, encompassing different species of plants, animals, and microorganisms, as well as the ecosystems they form. It is essential for maintaining ecological balance and ensuring the proper functioning of natural systems.

What are our biodiversity protection actions around the world?

Through our societal actions, certifications, training, and expertise, we work to preserve life. We also raise awareness among our teams around the world, as well as among children and all our stakeholders in France, on the La Côme site thanks to its 4-hectare park.

The Parc de La Côme in L’Isle-Jourdain, France, is a haven for biodiversity. But how exactly do we monitor and protect this ecosystem?

As soon as we acquired the La Côme premises in 2018, we carried out an ecological assessment with the help of a specialized consultancy. This study identified the flora and fauna present on the site, as well as sensitive areas, and allowed us to take them into account during the renovation work to minimize the impact on local biodiversity. For example, we adapted the construction schedule to the life cycle of the bats that shelter there!

How do we regenerate the site's biodiversity with the help of local experts?

Since the renovation work, annual inventories of local fauna and flora have been carried out. Ecocert works with experts from the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels (CEN) of Occitanie to support the monitoring and implementation of actions to regenerate biodiversity. Following their advice, a participatory project helped restore a water point, and less than a year later, we observed the return of the agile frog to the site.

What is the ORE (Real Environmental Obligation) for the Parc de La Côme, and what does it involve?

In 2024, Ecocert chose to sign an ambitious Real Environmental Obligation (ORE) for the Parc de La Côme. This notarized agreement commits us to strict biodiversity protection rules (such as a ban on pesticides and no soil artificialization) and safeguards the site for 99 years. Even in the event of a sale, the area must remain a natural refuge, preserving all current and future species. The Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels (CEN) of Occitanie is a co-signatory of this ORE to ensure continuity and compliance with these rules by future landowners.
