What is the Canada Organic Regime?
The Canada Organic Regime (COR) is the federal regulatory program for Canadian organic products.
It is based on an accreditation and certification system that guarantees products from Canadian organic agriculture.
The Canadian Organic Standards guarantees :
- Conservation of soil fertility
- Maintenance of biodiversity
- Respect of natural cycles and animal welfare
- Non-use of synthetic chemicals and GMOs
- Transparent labeling for the consumer
KEY FIGURES COR x ECOCERT
Ecocert Canada is accredited to certify under the Canada Organic Regime.
- Approximately 7,600 operators certified under the COR in Canada in 2020
- Of which 3615 operators certified by ECOCERT Canada in the same year
- In total, 1.6 million hectares are under organic management, which represents 2.5% of Canada's agricultural land.
- Sales of organic products in Canada have increased from 1.7% to 3.3% of the country's food consumption, from 2012 to 2020

EQUIVALENCE Canada - European Union
Since 2011, processed agricultural products that comply with European regulations (except wine) are considered equivalent to products certified under the Canada Organic Regime. They can therefore be sold in Canada as organic products.
A WIDE RANGE OF PRODUCTS THAT CAN BE CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Certification under the Canada Organic Regime applies to all food, feed and seed.
