What is the purpose of the SCC verification?
Sustainable Cononut Charter (SCC) verification promotes sustainability across the coconut supply chain by improving producers’ livelihoods, strengthening traceability, and reducing environmental impact.
What are the key guarantees of SCC?
Origin Standard:
- Improvement of living conditions for producers and their communities
- Protection of workers’ rights and support for local economic development
- Reduction of environmental impacts and climate adaptation
Supply Chain Standard:
- Enhanced transparency, traceability and governance throughout the coconut supply chain
How to get SCC verified?
To become SCC-verified, you must contact Sustainable Coconut Partnership (SCP) and appoint a verification body such as Ecocert.
Companies are allowed to make SCC compliance level and commitment on their website and social media platform by:
- Using the name “Sustainable Coconut Charter (SCC)”
- Indicating their compliance level (If Origin Standard: Engaged, Verified “in Transition,” or Verified “Sustainable” / If Supply Chain Standard: Bronze Membership, Silver Membership, or Gold Membership)
- Displaying the SCC logo (off-pack only)
For which category of products?
SCC may apply to all products derived from the coconut supply chain, such as (but not limited to): coconuts, coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut water, food-derived coconut products and raw materials intended for cosmetics (and other industries)
Who can get verified SCC?
- Origin Standard: small and large-scale farms (individual producers and producer groups)
- Supply Chain Standard: single-site and multi-site organizations (processors, importers, exporters, storage, etc.)
