What products can be exported under the equivalency agreement?

The equivalency agreement with Europe allows Canadian companies to trade with Europe all products covered by the agreement, including 100% Canadian unprocessed organic products as well as processed products in the 95% and above category.

When can the Euroleaf logo be used?

Only products sold in Europe can bear the Euroleaf logo.

Focus on Exporting to Europe

Since January 1, 2025, all third countries are now under the new European standard known as 2018/484. Our current equivalence agreement will be renegotiated by the end of 2026. For now, the current agreement is in effect and allows us to export all products identified as equivalent on the Ecocert certificate.

For which category of products?

Within the scope of the agreement:

  • Unprocessed plant products (produced or grown in Canada);
  • Live animals or unprocessed animal products (raised in Canada);
  • Processed agricultural products for human or animal consumption (with full/final processing taking place in Canada);
  • Plant propagation material and seeds (produced or grown in Canada);
  • Wine (with full or final processing taking place in Canada);
  • Seaweed (produced or processed in Canada).

Outside the scope of the agreement:

  • Organic products certified under the CAN/CGSB 32.312 standard other than seaweed;
  • Any products that are not Canadian and have not been processed;
  • Non-edible products.
Who is the European Organic Agriculture label intended for?

Only to companies that export their products to Europe.
