The COMEP, Service Evaluation Committee

This internal collective body evaluates the alignment of Ecocert’s services with its mission. The 8 members of the COMEP, representing all business sectors of the Group, meet once a month to: – provide opinions on new services – draft positioning notes on strategic topics – advance major priorities, particularly the impact measurement of our activities. Since its creation, all recommendations issued by the COMEP have been followed across all subsidiaries of the Group, demonstrating a strong commitment to placing the development of sound social and environmental practices at the heart of the company’s strategy.

Stating our positions

In a constantly evolving world, Ecocert remains attentive to current challenges and monitors future regulations and emerging practices. By assessing their potential impacts, Ecocert positions itself on key issues to advocate for sustainable and fair models across economic, social, societal, and environmental dimensions.

An overview of our concrete positions

Environmental labeling

Environmental labeling is a valuable communication tool to meet consumer expectations. For it to truly transform agricultural, industrial, and consumption models, we believe three key elements are essential: – relevant criteria and a transparent methodology – reliable data verified by a robust system – a transformative impact toward sustainable practices, supported by existing environmental and social labels.

Regenerative Agriculture

For Ecocert, regenerative agriculture is a systemic, results-based agricultural management system that combines virtuous farming practices with impact measurement using precise and relevant indicators. In contrast, the use of chemical inputs or GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) is unlikely to enable ecosystem regeneration. This approach allows organic agriculture to measure and highlight its benefits on soil, biodiversity, climate, water, animal welfare, as well as the resilience and autonomy of farming communities. Based on our work, it must: – Define KPIs adapted to local territories, pedoclimatic conditions, and crops – Regularly measure results over the long term to observe benefits and foster continuous improvement – Rely on the best agroecological practices

Carbon

To limit climate disruption, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced. This requires greater sobriety and a profound transformation of how we produce, consume, and move. Therefore, we prioritize support for organizations with decarbonization strategies that meet the scale of the challenge, including: – A clear reduction trajectory with short-, medium-, and long-term sectoral targets, along with a quantified and operational action plan – A cautious use of carbon credits – A systemic approach that integrates social and economic co-benefits for communities, as well as dependencies and pressures on terrestrial ecosystems and freshwater resources.
