What is the purpose of the Ecocert Materials Standard ?
The EMS (Ecocert Materials Standard) label allows products made from sustainable and/or recycled materials to be certified, guaranteeing their traceability and safety for human health, as well as compliance with social and environmental criteria.

How to get the Ecocert Material Standard?
Labellisation by a certification body such as Ecocert confirms that your practices comply with the Ecocert Materials Standard.
For which category of products?
The Ecocert Materials Standard applies to all finished products, product components, semi-finished products and raw materials that incorporate textiles, plastics, metals and composites of natural, bio-based or recycled origin, provided they meet the criteria for sustainable and/or recycled content.
Who can get EMS certified ?
The EMS standard applies to all parties involved in the physical supply chain for sustainable and recycled materials or products, including:
- Material producers (bio-based sectors, recycling);
- Processors: spinning, weaving, extrusion, injection moulding, dyeing and finishing, etc.;
- Garment makers, assemblers and manufacturers of finished products;
- Brands;
- Logistics or storage providers (if batches are mixed).
- Retailers who do not repackage or relabel products and B2C sales platforms are exempt from labelling, provided they do not carry out any processing.
