Climate Activator, formerly known as Climate Neutral Certification, acknowledges organizations' efforts in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While its framework remains unchanged, this renaming aligns with new European requirements for environmental transparency.
A Name Change Driven by Regulatory Requirements
The European directive "Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition" now prohibits the use of terms like "climate neutral" or "net zero" if CO2 offsets are used to achieve these goals. In response, the Climate Neutral Certification framework has been renamed Climate Activator.
Goals of Climate Activator Certification
Climate Activator certification is aimed at organizations of all sizes and sectors seeking to showcase their actions towards carbon neutrality. It applies broadly to products, services, or entire organizations. The certification emphasizes concrete commitments to reducing GHG emissions, with objectives aligned with the Paris Agreement. Priority is given to internal actions, promoting initiatives such as energy improvements or transitioning to low-emission solutions.
