Our approach

ECOCERT, inspection and certification body for sustainable development

For 20 years, the ECOCERT's principal activity consists in an inspection, in the field, of the respects of a standard's demands. Then, ECOCERT issues a document which certifies the compliance of your products, systems or services with the standard.

Our background: organic farming

ECOCERT is an inspection and certification body established in France in 1991 by agronomists aware of the need to develop environmentally friendly agriculture and of the importance of offering some form of recognition to those committed to this method of production.

From its creation, ECOCERT is specialized in the certification of organic agricultural products.

ECOCERT contributed to the expansion of organic farming in the 1990s by helping to draw up French and European regulations. Still very involved in promoting organic farming, Ecocert today works with French and international institutions in supporting project development. By winning the confidence of professionals and consumers, ECOCERT has become a benchmark in organic certification worldwide.

Our expertise: creating standards

Since the outset, ECOCERT has been an independent company that has remained faithful to its convictions.

Consistent with its commitment to organic farming, ECOCERT has opted to put its technical expertise to use in supporting the environment, developing its own specifications for the inspection and certification of products, systems and services. By defining strict requirements that meet consumer expectations, v Group encourages economic stakeholders to adopt responsible practices.

Recognised both in France and elsewhere, these standards are used to conduct inspections on the basis of technical criteria:

  • Natural and organic cosmetics.
  • Natural cleaning products.
  • Natural and organic home perfumes.
  • Paintings and coatings products from natural origin.
  • Being − Organic & ecological Spa
  • EFT (Ecocert Fair Trade) – Organic and fair trade products.
  • Eve® (Ecological green spaces).
  • Inputs eligible for use in organic farming (fertilisers, phytosanitary products, etc).
  • Environmentally friendly production of aquatic plants and their processing (Spirulina, food supplements).

Our team: a common conviction

Auditors, certification officers, account managers, department heads and administrative functions - ECOCERT employees, from very different backgrounds, share the same vision. Over and above technical skills, it is their common desire to work towards preserving the environment that gives ECOCERT strength and legitimacy.
