The ISO 14001 standard relates to the putting in place of an Environmental Management System (EMS).

It was published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1996 and revised in 2004.

ISO 14001 specifies requirements relating to implementation of an environmental management system (EMS) which allows an organisation to define an environmental policy and objectives for improvement of its environmental performance.

This standard involves in particular:

  • Management commitment
  • An assessment of environmental impacts and the degree of control over them
  • An environmental policy
  • Objectives and an action plan
  • Staff awareness and training
  • A management review

The service we provide

Ecocert Environment (formerly Ecopass), an Ecocert subsidiary, helps you to obtain this certification, whether you are a business, a local authority or a service company.

This standard does not itself institute specific environmental performance criteria. It applies to those environmental aspects over which you have control, and those over which you can have an influence.
