Support for producers
The setting up of the “fair trade” approach in accordance with the EFT standards requires the existence of a support operator or project holder. This can be a purchaser or the production organisation itself. He is jointly responsible for providing producers with technical and commercial support. The support will either be provided by the support operator himself, or will be delegated to another person.
Objectives of the support plan
To implement technical improvements based on the needs and expectations of the production organisation, and improvement activities aimed at increasing the sustainability of the local production system.

Optimising on-site processing
Enhancing the value of local know-how
Increasing the autonomy of the production organisations
Improving the system’s ecological sustainability (maintaining the fertility of the soil, sustainable management of resources and waste, etc.).
Commercial support
Knowledge of the market, market research
Advice on how to adapt to demand, for the improvement of products or services
Packaging, marketing, design, development of new products, etc.
Training and awareness raising on specific themes
Awareness raising and training activities are provided for the local populations (including institutions) on the principles and objectives of fair trade, on organic agriculture and the concept of sustainable local development.
