The stages involved in certification
Dear Sir, Madam,
Thank you very much for your interest in Cosmetics; please find hereafter the steps to obtain Ecocert’s Cosmetics certification.
The steps to obtain Ecocert’s Cosmetics certification are:
Acknowledge the general regulation
Familiarize yourself with the Cosmetics Standards
(see : Cosmetics standards and Appendix to standards)
Ask for a quotation : Fill in and send back to isabel.loger@ecocert.com the following documents (so we can establish you a personal estimated cost, with no obligation of your part)
Pre enquiry questionnaire (send it back in a WORD format): It will allow us to know more precisely your activity (corporate name, accountancy, production facilities…). (file F-PIC-002)
List of products to be certified (send it back in an EXCEL format): It will allow us to establish you a personal quotation. Please fill in the table as accurate as possible. (file F-PIC-300)
List of yours subcontractors and preparers (send it back in a WORD format) : If your products are manufactured by an other company, please fill in this document. (file F-PIC-004)
The contract is signed following acceptance of the quotation.
By signing the contract, you commit yourself to meet the Ecocert standards and agree the inspections.
Preparing the inspection :
The certification officer in charge of your file will be your personal contact. He/she will send you various documents to fill in and send back to him/her in order to validate the conformity of your ingredients, formulas, processes, packaging and labeling. First inspection :
If you are a retailer only, you will be inspected once a year after having signed the contract. The inspector will make a flow inspection.
If you manufacture and/ or package and/or purchase raw materials, you will have an approval inspection the first year of your commitment.
Obtaining the license and your certificates :
At the end of the certification steps.
The license proves that your company has been inspected and that its processes are in conformity with the Natural and Organic Cosmetics standards.
The certificates list all the certified products. They are the only official documents that will allow you to launch the distribution of the certified products.
Supervision audits :
In the years following your commitment to Ecocert, a supervision is done by yearly inspections. An already certified company can ask for the certification of a new line of products before their yearly inspection is done.
