The EFT schedule of conditions states that import commodities are eligible on condition that they respect the following rules:
Trading is done internationally, between “developing” countries and "developed” countries (South-North and potentially South-South).
The approach benefits disadvantaged producers in economic difficulty.
The products exported do not destabilise the destination market.
The products are certified "organic" or in conversion
The products originate from food, cosmetic, textile.
Products which by their nature are toxic or dangerous, or items produced by industry or resulting from mining extraction, contributing to the pillage of natural resources or to the impoverishment of biodiversity are not authorised.
Crops under greenhouses are authorised if they are adapted to local natural conditions.
Producers are organised into an association, a group or a cooperative.
Plantations are eligible provided they meet the Certification Committee’s requirements.
The operator requesting the certification must present a detailed proposal describing the commodity chain project.
Mixed operators (EFT production and non-EFT production) are permitted, but opportunistic approaches are prohibited.
