ECOCERT has developed a set of standards defining fair and responsible trade, together with related documents, control tools and certification procedures. ECOCERT Fair Trade Standards emphasise social and environmental criteria and require consideration of the entire commodity chain. The standards were developed in collaboration with many sector professionals: producers, processors, importers, retailers and consumer associations. They are intended to both food and non food commodities (cosmetics, textiles)
Ecocert Fair Trade Standards are compliant with fair trade principles, as defined by the FINE agreement or the AFNOR X50-340 document. The procedure is initiated by providing a potential client with a quotation. There are annual certification controls. A Certification Committee has been set up to supervise the work.
